A non-Green reason to sign the Kyoto Protocol

This is for the majority; You who are fearful of us Greens.

Greg Bourne used to be the Regional President of the big energy company, BP. He is now the Australian head of the World Wildlife Fund.

He is calling for Australia to sign the Kyoto Protocol.
This an excerpt from his argument:

"We should sign Kyoto for one reason only in Australia – and that is the leadership signal it sends to all businesses and the community. It won’t actually change the amount of emissions that come out of Australia by 2010, 2012, but the signal it sends to people and businesses – that we mean business as we go forward – would be profound."

Now is no time to be a purist.
I will take the ratification any way I can get it…even because it’s good for business.

Signing the Kyoto Protocol will connect Australia with the UN and the other countries in the binding multilateral agreement to combat climate change. It will represent a significant step towards protecting the millions of people and species at risk from climate change impacts.
