Stop jamming human rights down our throats, says NSW AG

Hatzo likes his power

From the ‘he would say that, wouldn’t he?’ department:

Hatzistergos fears ‘imposition’ of rights charter

New South Wales Attorney-General John Hatzistergos says he fears academics are trying to pressure the Federal Government into creating a national charter of human rights.

The Federal Government says it will look into the possibility of introducing a national charter, after a Victorian model came into effect this week.

The NSW Government opposes a charter, and Mr Hatzistergos says he hopes the Commonwealth is not rushed into it.

“There seems to be some academics and some law schools that have made an industry out of developing this concept and trying to shove it down people’s throats,” he said.

“I think what’s important here is that we have a genuine consultative process and we don’t have some do-gooder academics running around the country trying to impose some sort of social order upon them.”

Considering that the sole purpose of human rights charters and bills of rights is to rein in excessive exercise of government power, you get an idea of where Hatzo and the NSW Gubmint are coming from in their objection to codified civil rights for citizens.

He was a GREAT Health Minister too

“NSW Health Minister John Hatzistergos has apologised to a breast cancer sufferer who could not buy a prosthesis because an area heath services account had been frozen by Coles Myer.

Gail Turner, who has had a mastectomy, was unable to use a voucher provided by the Greater Southern Area Health Service when she presented it at a Myer store in Wagga Wagga.

The store refused to accept the voucher because the health service branch had failed to pay outstanding bills.

Other businesses, including that of a local milkman, have complained that Greater Southern has failed to pay its accounts.

Ms Turner, who is still having chemotherapy treatment, said she broke down at the counter when Myers refused to take her voucher for the $232 prosthesis and bra

It was a significant moment when Victoria was the first state to adopt a Bill of Human Rights as the clock ticked over to ’08, weez.

It received very brief treatment in the media like the supposed plan to provide “clean internet feed”.

I suspect that the model for that state was in fact the ACT. Hatman sounds like another large goose and let us just hope that he with Conroy will be relegated to the silly season joke department.

joe, without doubt, Vic was following the ACT’s lead. However, neither the ACT nor Vic charters of human rights are worth the paper they are printed on. These are statutory bills of rights, created by an act of Parliament, meaning they also can be altered on the whims of politicians.

Bills of rights should be constitutional instruments, requiring significant majorities popular votes to be enacted or altered. That keeps the hands of the pols off them.

After APEC I’m seriously thinking the dingbat Libs should be given a run come next election. A ferret in the henhouse might expose the huge ratnest we’ve been voting for. How much damage can those “ferrets for Jesus” do to a dungheap, anyhoo?

I understand that, weez, but am more than prepared to celebrate any little step forward.

One state and territory of australia has a bill of rights. Far out.

Comment by joe2 01.11.08 @ 9:42 pm

hip, the dingbats have got a LOT of time to spend in the woodshed yet before anyone risks a repeat of the yet-to-be repealed WorkChoices. It’s no accident that ‘WC’ is an abbreviation for ‘shithouse.’

joe, while it’s better than a sharp stick in the eye, it’s hard to call it a ‘bill of rights’ when govt can ignore or alter the terms at the will of a few politicians. It’s just not good enough, simple as that. We must not accept a statutory bill of rights as a real, functional civil rights definitional instrument- because it’s not.

The only upside I can think of to the ACT & Vic charters is that after a few years of operation, proponents of codified civil rights will be more easily able to punch holes in the authoritarians’ (like Bob Carr) argument that the sky will fall if the citizens have actual, boilerplate rights against excessive govt power.

John Hatzistergos is as corrupt as the rest. He is a sick sinister thing who should of used much more pimple cream. His brain equals a pimple. Without Human Rights you are corrupt and dirty as can be.I should know. Corrupt and Dirty. The LOSER and TOSER. Wash that Dirty Face and mind John.

Craig, what has the man’s skin condition got to do with his judgment? I know lots of wise and thoughtful people with acne.

My complaint with Hatzo is his silly anti-democratic views. Democracies are based solely in the right of the people to control the government, not the other way around.

I could not possibly care less about the man’s skin- and BTW, acne isn’t caused by dirty skin, it’s caused by a susceptibility to infection- and it’s quite curable.

I’ve seen your incredibly painful web page- I don’t think I’d be so loose with the terms ‘loser’ and ‘tos[s]er’ were I you. Glass houses, eh?

Comment by weez 04.13.08 @ 12:29 pm

wow. Betts’ web page isn’t just painful, weez- it’s a fucking abortion with a dose of syphilitic Jesus spooey up the arse. Not just a tosser, this wankstain writes web pages like a gibbon with access to a computer.

Let him invent his own new word. ‘Toser’ could be a combination of ‘loser’ and ‘tosser’ that he can’t misspell. 😆

You have 2 options you take off your blasphemy about Jesus or your site comes down.
From the Law and Order Christians.

Rule number one: When making threats, use a proxy. Rule number 2: always have a backup ISP account in case Optusnet closes your primary.

Go your hardest, little one.

What a toser. 😆

maaaaaaan, it’s been a long 24 hours, waiting for my ‘website to be taken down.’ More like a month. Maybe those ‘Law & Order Christians’ don’t work on the same schedule as the rest of us. After all, they’ve been living by the rules of an imaginary friend for about 1900 years. 😆

oh Weez, I am so glad I subscribed to this thread, way back when …
I should not be laughing as I am.
We must not laugh at sick people – it’s UNChristian.
peace and love to you, brownie.

I see Crazy Craig Andrew Betts has found his gloriously hilarious threat to ‘take down’ mgk enshrined in this thread, prompting him to go there and impersonate me.

Meet Mr Betts, the declared vexatious litigant, drunk driver, mother basher, serial AVO applicant and diagnosed mentally ill fuckbag.

Dr Keller from the Sutherland Shire Mental Health Department says:

Mr Betts is extremely well known to the Division of Mental Health at Sutherland Hospital.

He has had one admission to our Inpatient Unit as well as sporadic contact with our Acute Care Treatment Team. He frequently corresponds with myself by fax and the content of this correspondence reflects psychotic thought processes and delusional beliefs.

It is my professional opinion that Mr Betts is likely to be currently suffering from a mental illness and that he may well represent a risk to himself and others.

I believe he would benefit from an urgent Mental Health Assessment to determine what treatment is required at this point in time.

How fucked up can one dickwad be?

The obvious solution for Betts is suicide, but until he tops himself, he’ll be back here harassing the fuck out of everyone. He’s so good at harassment that he’s not allowed to take any legal action in NSW without leave of the Supreme Court of NSW. Now THAT’S some serious asshattery.

SUICIDE, Craig! KILL YOURSELF NOW, you worthless bucket of dogshit.

and you expected christian behaviour from an atheist, mm? 😉

After Crazy Craig’s more than 30 attempts to post to this thread (which remain in the mod Q, never to leave), I’m not so convinced he’s sick as much as he’s just an attention-seeking cockhead. That’s why I have no compunction whatsoever in encouraging CC to jump off something real tall and just get it the fuck over with.
