No More Mr. Not-So-Nice Guy

Whilst on Andrew Denton’s Enough Rope program on ABC tonight, in course of discussing his recovery from alcoholism, the formerly Most Evil Rock Star Evah, Alice Cooper, has said that he is now a Christian.

That’s right, Mr Alice "I Love The Dead" Cooper, who is theatrically decapitated in every stage show, mocking religion at every stageborne opportunity… is now born again. Alice’s macabre antics haven’t ever freaked me out before… but now I have visions of him becoming Jeb or George W in his old age. Now THAT’S shock value!

Regardless- it’s worked for him! Cooper has now been clean & sober for yonks.

Don’t miss- Alice Cooper on Tour.

I watched part of the interview, but after the “I’m a Christian now” revelation with the ‘miracles and wonder’ crap I just had to abandon it.
I never thought Alice Cooper would ever try to sell me God.

Suki, foremost, you have to recall that Cooper, like all thespians, is a bit of a salesman. Suspending your disbelief by persuading you, the willing audience, toward an alternate reality has been his stock in trade for yonks.

At the end of the day, the differences are pretty slim between priests, Alice Cooper and used car salesmen… except that with the latter, you will usually have at least a used car to show for your efforts.

Now Alice is going to sell me the car he only drove to church on sundays?

I hear there’s a VW you can buy that once was owned by the Pope!

I wonder with his support of Bush. Does he now regret his Muppet Show appearance?

Mike Tyson said after his last fight… “I am no longer an animal”.

Its not that unusual for someone to find religion after hitting rock bottom or traumatic life event. There is an old saying… its only when your flat on your back that you look up!!

Even the worst can change, although I’m still not going to suggest to my kids that they view Cooper as a role model.

Only time will tell if its a real change, or a publicity stunt.

Either way, isnt it par for the course for every celeb that has a revelation or a new fad, to go world wide discussing it on every talk show!!
