Mike of Steel

September 1st, 2004
Mike Scrafton is a bit wobbly about the less relevant details. He’s not sure if in the 51 seconds that the second telephone call lasted he could have covered all the topics he claims to have raised with the Prime Minister.

Radio journalists know that 51 seconds is sufficient time to read aloud two-thirds of a double-spaced type written page.

Therefore it is wholly possible that the Prime Minister listened and Mike spoke.
Perhaps he said,

"Sir, the videotape of the incident did not support the proposition that children had been thrown overboard. I advise you, Prime Minister that photographs released by the government did not relate to the incident and no one in Defence that I have dealt with believed the allegation."
