A non-Green reason to sign the Kyoto Protocol

October 14th, 2004

This is for the majority; You who are fearful of us Greens.

Greg Bourne used to be the Regional President of the big energy company, BP. He is now the Australian head of the World Wildlife Fund.

He is calling for Australia to sign the Kyoto Protocol.
This an excerpt from his argument:

"We should sign Kyoto for one reason only in Australia – and that is the leadership signal it sends to all businesses and the community. It won’t actually change the amount of emissions that come out of Australia by 2010, 2012, but the signal it sends to people and businesses – that we mean business as we go forward – would be profound."

  Windpower is clean and renwable

Now is no time to be a purist.
I will take the ratification any way I can get it…even because it’s good for business.

Signing the Kyoto Protocol will connect Australia with the UN and the other countries in the binding multilateral agreement to combat climate change. It will represent a significant step towards protecting the millions of people and species at risk from climate change impacts.

I (and many others) saw through you John Winston Howard!

Starting on 12 September 2001, you (assisted by Blair and Bush) capitalised on the fear and shock of the events of the day before and through Classical Conditioning attempted to create a high level of anxiety for every Australian.
By October 2004, all you had to do was mention any of the diverse, radical, ‘other’ words such as:
Muslim, Asylum Seeker, Refugee, people who question why children are kept behind razorwire, Habib, Hicks, Hicks’ family, Brian Deegan, WMD’s, the UN, Human shields in Iraq, Australian Hostages in Iraq, Iraqi civilian casualties, Greenie, Leftie, Media Watch, ABC, SMH, Lesbian mother, Michael Moore, Phillip Adams, Mark Latham, Global warming, higher interest rates, young drivers, learner drivers, custodial parent, organic farmer, disabled person, ‘freelance’ anything, internet, adult pornography, Brazilian wax, mobile telephones with cameras, Terriers (it sounds like Terrorism when you are hyper-anxious)
and there was mass quivering on farms, in mortgage belts, in offices, in worksites, in the Public Service and in the homes around this country.

In the course of your training of the Australian public, the Conditioned Stimulus (CS), e.g. the words-old growth forest, were repeatedly presented together with the Unconditioned Stimulus (US), e.g. fear; eventually the voters form an association between the US and the CS.

Congratulations you bastard, you turned most of Australia into quivering, fearful lapdogs who were trained to react to you as their Protector.

You set it up, fed it well and exploited it for your own gain.

Read the Bloggisphere you insufferable manipulator…We are the future and we are all getting active…

Starting the deprogramming now….

NEXT patient please.

Perhaps if there was less wind…

On Saturday, a very creative protest in Sydney would not have blown away.

These people breed and vote!

Julie Matthews, whose son is in a lower grade at St Simon’s Catholic Primary School, a school that was found to employ a teacher who was named and suspended for being netted in a nationwide swoop against child pornography, is shocked.

Julie said she was shocked at hearing the news of a teacher at her son’s school being implicated in ‘Operation Auxin’ yesterday.

"It’s a Catholic primary school, where you would think your child is safe,"

Where has this parent been?

Entering ‘Roman Catholic Church Sex Scandals’ into Google returned 46,900 related links. For something succinct on the subject, this and this is good.

On October 9, don’t be fooled by the scare tactics of the Christian right.

Open and honest discourse is the only way that the sexualisation and sexual abuse of children will ever be addressed.

Endless Counselling, unless it moves into honestly as a society addressing the facts, only serves to assuage guilt.

Guilt for both the perpetrators and carers.

Truth on a Macro level (starting with the Federal Government), filtering down through every institution is the best option for protecting the vulnerable (which is greater than just the children) in our community.

Will the Truth matter?

October 4th, 2004

Howard is comfortable to divide truth into ‘core’ and ‘non-core’ promises.

Abbott is such a compulsive liar that he operates on a ‘prove it’ theory, which is easily done.

Let’s care about truth…

Truth about why we are in Iraq.
Truth about the mental health of people in detention centres.
Truth about Medicare from the perspective of health care providers.
Truth about the dangerous stupidity of Ministers.
Truth about renewable energy projects.
